FAQ

Our most frequently asked questions are answered below.

Why should I send my child to Hockey Express Camp?

At Hockey Express our mission is to help all players improve their level of technical, tactical, and fundamental hockey skills in a fun and enjoyable environment. Activities are age and skill level appropriate, our coaches are experienced and can easily adapt to the players needs.

How do you group the camp participants?

We group the camp participants based on their current Primary or Secondary School class with an emphasis on friends together.

Will my child be in large groups for the camp?

Our camps are geared to the developmental needs and interests of each age group. We protect the quality of the experience by maintaining a player:coach ratio at 12:1.

My child likes hockey but is not an All-Star. Will my child have fun?

Yes, our camp coaches strive to treat every camper like an All-Star. Individual improvement and fun are stressed above competing against other players.

What are the arrangements for water breaks/snacks?

At camp, we tend to split the day into four hockey sessions. There will be regular water breaks during the session and a break between sessions giving time to have a snack and lunch. All camp participants are to bring their own healthy snacks and lunch with at least 2 liters of water and also must bring their own water bottles.

What is the schedule on rainy days?

Depending on availability, we may have access to indoor facilities classrooms, or sports halls depending on camp location. Please bring wet gear, and a change of clothes if the forecast is to rain.

Does my child need to bring any equipment?

All camp participants are to bring their own hockey stick, mouth guard, and shinguards. We recommend hockey gloves and astroturf runners for additional grip. We will provide hockey sticks for those players who do not own their own.

My child has never played before. Do you supply sticks? I don’t wish to spend money on one if they don’t want to keep hockey on.

Yes. We provide sticks. You don’t have to own one, you can borrow one of ours. Please drop us an email prior to camp taking place to ensure we have enough sticks to go around.
