Our Coaches – All our coaches have completed the Child Welfare & Protection Basic Awareness course and are minimum Irish Hockey Association certified Level One Hockey Coaches. They have a vast knowledge of hockey, with years of Club experience and also having represented their Clubs at Provincial and Irish levels. In addition to this, they have successfully managed Interprovincial and Irish teams.
Eric Comerford – Camp Director/Head Coach
With over two decades of playing experience and a decade of coaching under his belt Eric has become one of the most popular hockey coaches around the South East region. Having only picked up the sport at the age of 12 upon entering Kilkenny College, the love of hockey was found. He always classed himself as a ground hurler and hockey fell naturally into this category. After becoming a Leinster development coach in 2016, in early 2017 Eric decided more was needed to be done for Hockey in the South Easter region, thus Hockey Express was born. Along with a likeminded group of technical hockey coaches, Eric and his team run camps and clinics are run all year round.
Emmett Hughes – Head Coach
Emmett is one of the most experienced young coaches in the country, having played for Kilkenny, Fingal and Leinster U21. Upon finishing his Sports Psychology degree, he has turned is full focus to coaching. Emmett is currently the Kilkenny Senior Boys Head Coach and has brought the team the All Irelands for the past two years after a six-year drought. Other notable coaching successes include the winning the Interpros as head coach of the Leinster U16 boys in 2018.
Elmer Dool – Head Coach
Elmer Dool is a highly regarded technical coach, he has earned many accolades over the years through coaching. Elmers area of specialisation is the technical development of players under the age of 16. Elmer is meticulous in his approach to technical development of young players. Ensuring they have the required set of skills to become a talented hockey player.
Sinéad Connery – Coach
Sinead’s combined coaching and international playing experience bring a special flair to her style of hockey. Having represented Ireland from the age of 15 and being one a small number to be crowned Irish Hockey League winners with her past club Hermes she is one of the most
Aine Connery – Coach
Aine is one of Irelands most capped international players, with well over 100 caps for Ireland. Aine brings international playing and coaching experiences to our camps. Aine has also been named as top league scorer a number of times. If you are a forward you should really listen to what Aine is saying.
Sam Grace – Coach/Drag Flick Specialist
Sam Grace joined the coaching team while still in college and continues to lend us his coaching expertise. Sam has recently returned to Ireland after a stint in Australia playing professional hockey for Perth side …. . Sam has represented Ireland at U16, U18, U21 and U23 level. He most recently joined Three Rock Rovers in Dublin who competed in the Pro 16 in the Netherlands, being one of the first Irish teams to make it to the Pro 8. Sam’s on pitch specialty is the Drag Flick, Sam runs regular drag flick clinics for Hockey Express. Don’t miss out and book early as places are limited at these clinics.
George Smyth – Goalkeeper Coach
George is the newest member of the Hockey Express coaching team. Joining us for the first time this year. George is our goalkeeping specialist coach
Clodagh Cassin – Goalkeeper Coach
Clodagh Cassin is a highly decorated goalkeeper representing Ireland at U16, U18 and U21 level, and is a capped Senior International player. Clodagh currently plays for EYHL side UCD. Clodagh was part of the EYHL winning team in 2018, the same year they won the Irish Hockey Cup.
